Welcome
Welcome to our wonderful school, which is located in the beautiful village of Rattlesden in the heart of the Suffolk countryside. I am very proud to be Headteacher of this fantastic school and feel extremely lucky to work alongside a dedicated and committed team of staff, governors and such wonderful children and their families!
We are a Church of England school with strong family and community values. We are firm believers in the importance of the partnership between school and home and the role it plays in ensuring a high quality education for pupils. Therefore we strive to work with our families within a climate of trust and mutual respect to ensure the highest possible learning experiences for our pupils.
Our priority is for the school to be a place where children flourish as individuals and to provide a strong foundation for their future academically.
We aim to encourage our children to be enthusiastic learners who embrace challenge. Throughout our school, termly topics are designed to stimulate and inspire the children through the creation of an engaging and dynamic curriculum, underpinned by our Christian values, that encourages curiosity and independent learning. We enrich the curriculum with visits and visitors and offer a wide selection of clubs and activities, encouraging pupils to develop their creative and sporting activities as well as their academic abilities.
We are blessed with being in a beautiful rural location which provides children in all year groups with opportunities to explore and develop their knowledge of different habitats throughout the changing seasons. Investigation, observation and experimentation are encouraged through a focus on independent learning.
We are very lucky to have such engaged and involved parent helpers and volunteers who come with us on schools trips, help with reading in school or like to come and share a hobby or job. The governors and staff work together with parents and the community to foster within the school, a culture of inclusion and high expectation underpinned by our Christian values. Our Christian Vision underpins all the work we do: we aim to be our BEST - Believe, Embrace and Shine Together!
Rattlesden Primary School serves children from the villages of Rattlesden, Brettenham, Felsham and Gedding and we also welcome children from outside catchment and have children in school from other surrounding villages. Our school is part of Thedwastre Education Trust, a multi-academy trust with three other primary schools: Great Barton, Woolpit and Thurston. We also belong to the Thurston Partnership, with 17 local schools all working together to ensure success for all the children in our area.
Our last Ofsted inspection was in October 2018 and we were judged to be a ‘good school’ in all areas.
In our SIAMS Church inspection in October 2019, we were graded good in all areas. The final report notes: ‘Pupils including the most vulnerable, make at least good, and often accelerated progress. This leads to attainment that is well above national averages in all measures'.
We hope you find the information you need on our website. Please contact us if you have any questions.
We warmly welcome prospective parents to the school to meet the staff and the children.
