Threads Key figures Environment & sustainability Beliefs and Values
This topic develops the children’s understanding of the Earth’s key physical processes. It deepens their understanding of the interaction between physical and human processes, and of the formation and use of landscapes and environments. We learn about natural disasters and extreme weather conditions, including flooding and coastal erosion. We will study some amazing rescues in the past and around the world as well as visits from some emergency services, including the RNLI and a search and rescue team. To link with their children's understanding of the wider community and charity work, they will take part in a fundraising event to support the work of local emergency rescue charities.
SULSAR Visit
We were visited by the Suffolk Lowland Search and Rescue Team and one of their lovely dogs. We learned about about the wonderful work that they do. Their trained dog was able to find one of our 'missing' children!
RNLI Water Safety Workshop
Sponsored Walk
We raised an incredible£2,100 in aid of the Moroccan Earthquake and Libyan Flood Disaster Relief as well as the RNLI, SARS and SuLSAR.The children all put a massive effort into the walk, carrying their emergency response kits containing water, first aid equipment food and survival essentials.

Army Visitor
We were very lucky to be visited by Captain Adam Nash to explain how helicopters are used for medical rescue. We learnt about night vision cameras and how pilots are able to communicate with other teams quickly and efficiently.
Some responses from the children:
"I enjoyed trying on the pilot's helmet." "I enjoyed learning about the night vision cameras."
