Task master challenge...

KK managed 13 pairs of socks in 60 seconds!
How many did you do?

Home Learning for Thursday 21st January 2021.

UPDATE: Parents - Just to let you know the maths workbooks (containing all the worksheets) for our new maths unit "Multiplication and Division" have arrived in school today. They will be available to pick up from the Maple box under the canopy from 9am on Wednesday 20th January. There is a named plastic pocket for each pupil, which also contains some handwriting sheets. Please just take the packs named for your child / children.
The children will need these books ready for the lesson on Monday 25th January.

Bonjour Maple Class Families,

Today on CBBC it is maths (giving change) and French. If you can, why not join the 9am show Maths plus 'Bonjour'. Don't forget that this show (and all of them) are available on iplayer if you can't watch live and this one will be available for a couple of months. Also at 10am the celebrity supply art teacher is 'Ricky Wilson' from a band called the Kaiser Chiefs and he will swapping his microphone for a paint brush!
Mrs McIntosh and I had such a lovely catch up with the Maple 2 girls yesterday afternoon. Some lovely items were shared, including lots of lovely books and some even better smiley faces and giggles! Just what we all needed and looking forward to catching up with the first group of boys today at 3pm.

And finally, Mrs Oldfield has another lockdown task master challenge for you. To help the grown ups with putting the dried washing away...
How many socks can you pair in one minute!

Have a great day and really looking forward to catching up with group 1 (the girls) at 3pm today on Zoom. Don't forget to bring something you'd like to show the rest of us!
Love Mrs Oldfield xx

UPDATE:     We are offering a bi-weekly book changing service. There will be a box under the gazebo each Monday and Thursday from 9 am until 1 pm labelled Maple 2.  If you put your child's reading folder in the box we will change it, folders can be collected on Tuesday (Monday off drop) or Friday (Thursday drop off) from 9 am.
Please remember to sign your child's reading diary when they have read their book to avoid confusion.

In a change to home learning from last time, please email your photos, work and queries to Mrs Oldfield & McIntosh via their school email addresses below rather than the office. Generally, Mrs McIntosh will reply to Monday and Tuesday messages with Mrs Oldfield looking after Wednesday - Friday. Please bear with us as you may not always get an immediate response, e.g. if we are in school teaching the 'Key Worker Children' or need to locate a resource to email you back with.

Writing
Join Mrs C for plot point 5 (lesson 5) to continue you story writing for 'The Secret's of Black Rock' called...
"Black Rock Wakes Up!"
www.youtube.com/watch?v=bwGdKAAhm68
Grown ups - Mrs C appears at about 13.45 minutes and lens one begins at about 20 minutes where she shows the chotting and writing side layouts (the same as last week).
Today's lenses are 1) Short sentence for effect   2) personification (giving something non human e.g.. Black Rock a human characteristic - maybe breathing, speaking)  3) Synonyms - a word of phrase that means exactly (or nearly) the same as another word or phrase.

Mrs McIntosh and I have been blown away with the writing we have received so far. You are doing an amazing job Maple. Keep it Up.

MP and BG had a great time in school making their 'fire breathing dragons' with Mrs McIntosh and Miss Moore.

Afternoon Activities - Welcome Y1 Maple class

Science -  Can you save Humpty Dumpty?
First, please read the letter from Humpty Dumpty then read through the save Humpty investigation pdf. Finally, can you write a reply to Humpty?
Grown ups - A couple of apologies...
1) The investigation pdf is a little longer than I would have liked it to be. If you have time to discuss the questions at the start of the file please only spend 30-60 seconds maximum on each. I hope the children will be keen to get onto the investigation!
2) I'm really sorry if they make a mess, as eggs are needed! You could maybe hard boil them first for damage limitation!

Art - you could join Ricky Wilson (from the band the 'Kaiser Chiefs' and he was a judge on 'The Voice') as the celebrity supply teacher for an art lesson at 10am on CBBC. He will swap his microphone for a paintbrush.
or
you could join Art for Kids Hub for a how to draw a dragon draw along. This might need some super listening skills and lots of patience!

60 Second Challenges competition. Check out Mrs Jeffery explanation on the school's YouTube channel. She talks through the plank from last week and star jumps. Make sure 'you get your scores in'.

If you fancy a bit of French and a recap on working out change, then check out this morning's CBBC program at 9am. It's also available on the iplayer for later in the day.
